Establish two new state-of-the-art psychiatric care centers in underserved areas of San Diego. These centers will include crisis stabilization units and transitional housing to help individuals move from crisis to recovery.
San Diego County currently faces a severe shortage of behavioral health professionals and acute care beds—leaving too many residents without the help they need. Expanding our psychiatric infrastructure directly addresses this crisis, providing timely care and long-term stability.
Each new center could generate over 100 quality jobs in psychiatry, nursing, social work, peer support, and facility operations—strengthening both public health and the local economy.
Inspired by the County Psychiatric Hospital’s 24/7 service and innovative rehabilitation programs, these new centers can set a new standard for compassionate, community-focused mental health care in San Diego.
